WOMEN FOR BEES BY GUERLAIN X UNESCO

On July 21st, 2021, Guerlain and UNESCO with the collaboration of OFA and Angelina Jolie celebrated the first cohort of the European-based beekeepers of the “Women for Bees” programme, followed by a private press conference moderated by Lindsey Tramuta – Paris-based journalist and author – live from OFA the French Observatory of Apidology.

The training programme allows participants throughout the world – from Russia to Ethiopia and Cambodia, to acquire the theoretical and practical beekeeping knowledge required. And that’s in order to mount and manage a sustainable beekeeping operation. As new entrepreneurs, these women will become members of a worldwide community of women beekeepers, who along with their stocks of bees will strengthen local biodiversity and pass on their own knowledge.

Between now and 2025, 2,500 hives will have been created within 25 UNESCO biosphere reserves, in the hopes that the programme will contribute to the repopulation of 125 million bees.
