Throwback Dior cruise 2021 at Lecce, Italy: Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri put the spotlight on Itlay’s native crafts and artisans. The collaborations were accomplished in the midst of the global shutdown, with Italy suffering the most from the pandemic . Marinella Senatore – the italian visual artist – conceptualized the luminarie that lined the piazza, some of which were reproduced in the collection’s prints. Marilena Sparacsi – the culture and bobbin lace artist- was responsible for the rare tombolo embroidery that ornamented one of Chiuri’s dresses. And the collection’s woven pieces were created by the Le Constantine Foundation, founded by sisters Giulia and Lucia Starace aiming to maintain this unique form of textile design. The orchestra and dance company were local too.
For Dior’s upcoming cruise 2022 collection Chiuri merges history with modern feminist narratives. The upcoming show titled “Erratum,” a Latin term meaning correction of a published text, the house has chosen Athens, an exceptional destination, cradle of Western civilisation and European art.
