Looking for an alternative to having a facelift? Then face cupping might be the answer. Find out all there is to know about the non invasive alternative.
WHAT IS FACE CUPPING?
Face Cupping has been around for hundreds of years and documented in chinese, korean, tibetian and other oriental transcripts. The original form of face cupping was called “Jiao fu”which translates into “animal horn” which was used as the instrument for face cupping. Today Face Cupping uses suction cups made out of silicon or glas.
HOW DOES FACE CUPPING WORK?
Face cupping increases the blood circulation and stimulates your skin. Through a soft squeeze of the facial cup on certain parts of your face a slight suction is released that pulls the blood into that part of the face. This increases the blood circulation of the skin under the cup and the surrounding tissue and generates new blood cells.
THE ADVANTAGES OF FACE CUPPING
Suctions of part of the face are effective and help the blood circulation and regenerate collagen. It not only releases muscle tensions but also helps with cell repair and regeneration. It helps to detox the skin, slows down ageing and helps to increase lymphatic drainage, reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and results in a glowing and firmer skin.
THE CORRECT METHOD
It is recommended to have experts who are familiar with lymphatic drainage and vessels do the therapy. For those of you who would like to try cup facing at home. it is recommended to take a course to learn the correct tecniques. Make sure the cup is cleaned with a cleanser. Apply face oil or serum to your face to minimize the friction between the cup and your skin. Move the cup swiftly from the top to the outside. Use a technique of pressing and letting go while moving the cup across your skin. Use your other hand to hold the skin behind the cup to ensure a smoother application and avoid pulling.
Never use the cup over the carotide artery or the jugular vein and never move the cup from the top to the bottom of the face to avoid clotting of the lymphatic liquids.
It is important to drink alot of water after the treatment, best with some fresh lemon. Dont use the cups more than two times a week, as the skin will get too elastic which can lead to a sagging skin.
THE DOWNSIDE OF FACE CUPPING
If not carried out professionally, face cupping can harm the skin. If the pressure is too strong, or the size of the cup is not suitable or the way the cup is moved across the face, can result in blue spots and micro cuts. Under the eyes it can result in puffy eyebags and the skin coming off.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE?
Although there is no age limit, people with very thin and wrinkled skin are not good candidates. Even the slightes suction can destroy the tiny capillaries. Also avoid face cupping in areas where you adminstererd botox or fillers.
