Bosnian, Vienna based astrologist Nada Van der Laan counts the likes of Angelina Jolie, Prince Albert of Monaco, Sofia Loren and Safiya Al Rashid, ex-wife of Saudi billionaire Nasser Al Rashid, among her many A-lister clients. She doesn’t rely on publicity but mere word of mouth. We met up with the attractive blonde in Vienna to find out more about the secret to her “fame among the famous” and what the stars have in store for us in the near future!
NOAH´S ARK
Van der Laan starts off with explaining that through her power of reading the present and the future in the stars, the most important task in today´s difficult times we are passing through, is to return to the core of human and society´s values, in leaving behind materialism. Only those who succeed she says will join Noah´s Ark. ( Noah’s Ark is the vessel in the Genesis flood narrative through which God spares Noah, his family, and examples of all the world’s animals from a world-engulfing flood. The story in Genesis is repeated, with variations, in the Quran, where the Ark appears as Safinat Nūḥ (Arabic: سفينة نوح “Noah’s ship”) and al-fulk (Arabic: الفُلْك).
THE PROCESS
Clients seeking consultation have to be completely open and truthful. Only this way, Van der Laan says, they will find and understand their inner self and calling. Clients most commonly seek her advice on love, health and fortune. It´s today’s world of fortune and wealth she blames for human´s being estranged more and more from each other. Humans are judged for their money not their personality.
While Van der Laan explores the star constellation based on the birthdate and hour, she finds more clues in the client´s eyes´ and hands´ energy. She likes to refer to them as the “business card of our soul”. Her intuition almost immediately lets her classify her client´s personality and fears. Within each individual consultation, that usually takes between an hour or two, clients are encouraged to visit the subconscious to find out where “they are coming from” and “where they are going”. The satisfaction in finding new perceptions and oneself, specific advice, but often also loneliness is what makes clients return again and again throughout their live.
THE WHO´S WHO
When asked about her most memorable encounters she quickly refers to the late Austrian countess Pilar Goess and German Baroness Francesca Thyssen-Bornemisza, two great friends and inspirations who she describes as exemplary spirituel, giving and humane personalities. She also fondly talks about Lady Gaga, Brian Adams and Prince Albert. Three personalities she had been fascinated by for many years, and all of a sudden, she was the person they completely opened up to and confided in. Within the fashion world she recalls Giorgio Armani, his niece Roberta and Valentino Garavani as part of her very fond encounters.
A famous quote says “The truth hurts”. So do many revelations Van der Laan extracts from her clients. it is part of the therapy and process to finding the right path. Only once in her career Van der Laan has encountered a client who could not handle the truth and got so aggressive that she had to end the session.
To those that question astrology as a science, Van der Laan responds that each human has the right to believe in what he needs and that the most famous and accomplished scientists and explorers in our history, such as Ptolemy, Marco Polo, Aristoteles and Galileo practiced and relied on astrology.
THE FUTURE
We end our interview with Van der Laan´s prognosis for 2023, a year she forecasts as full of new surprises and changes in the world and society. Changes that already started this August and that are part of the process of defining a new world order. 2023 and 2024 will be the most difficult years, as we shall experience unforeseen events. But everybody can contribute in making this new world a better one, the fascinating woman who describes herself as a philanthropist who has a calling to help people, firmly believes!
