One designer who really made headlines at this years Cannes Film Festival is Lebanese couturier Rami Kadi. His show stopping creations seemed to be everywhere and on the red carpet’s most famous and fabulous stars.
In an exclusive Rami let us in on the dynamics behind this year’s red carpet choices.
Q: Was this year the most dresses you ever had in Cannes? And if yes why?
A: We had 23 appearances during cannes film festival this year. We usually collaborate from outside the festival to have our dresses shown at the carpet. This year we had a showroom there and celebrities had the access to try and explore our designs including a large selection from different collections by the maison. In addition we offered direct contact to our PR team.
Q: Were any of the gowns custom made for the occasion?
A: We did couple of custom pieces especially for this festival. You can see them on Isabeli Fontana, Chiara Sampaio, Leonie Hanne, Fatima Almomen and Raya Abi Rached.
Q: How important is celebrity dressing to you?
A: It’s part of our marketing strategy, as well as our brand image. We always love to associate our creations with stars that can glow in them, showing off their best selves in Rami Kadi Maison de Couture.
Q: Do you turn down requests? If yes why?
A: Yes sometimes we do because we don’t see that the dress represents the celebrity or vice versa. We as a brand dont want to overshadow the celebrity nor over-shadow the creation, therefore a good candidate is someone who can add something to our designs as well as benefit from its glow.
Q: Is there a celebrity you would really love to dress?
A: We’re always up to new names that can shine in Maison Rami Kadi.
Here the stars dressed in Rami’s gowns that graced the red carpet from the opening night all the way to the Amfar gala.
