The past days have seen a big buzz around high jewelry collections being presented within a world of glitz and glam.
Two collections really made us fantasize and make our hearts beat faster. Quite different in style and design, almost understated vs opulent, yet both so precious, intricate and absolutely to die-for.
While haute couture remains an inexhaustible source of inspiration for the House of Dior, the designs of the new Dior Print High Jewellery collection are based on a bold and unmatched style. The out-of-the-ordinary concept – by translating a 2D fabric pattern into 3D jewelry – created 35 ‘printed’ kits embellished with checks, stripes, gradient tie-dye hues, geometric patterns and captivating ‘Liberty’ prints while its ultra-fluidity glides on the skin like a silky breeze. The 137-piece Dior Print collection exudes astonishing craftsmanship, and takes French high jewelry on unexpected and dazzling journeys.
Italian Dolce Vita is what immediately comes to mind looking at the grand pieces of the third act of Hortus Deliciarum, the High Jewellery collection designed by Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele. Composed of unique pieces divided into five themes gathering the passions and obsessions of an imaginary Grand Tour, once an aristocratic pleasure and privilege with Rome as its ultimate destination, starting in the mid-nineteenth century and continuing to the 1970s. In the role of an obsessive collector, Michele presents a travel diary and travel souvenirs of unique pieces of jewelry that are reminders of an expression of both the virtuosity of craftsmanship and the capacity for creativity. On this path of dreamlike, imaginary journeys, we move from the magnetic attraction of the infinitely small micro-mosaics of ruins and Roman landscapes to precious stones, colorful and uneven, as an expression of the diverse miracle of creation . With the same ‘curiosity for knowledge’, we move with eloquent lightness from the extraordinary obsession that creates the quality of historicity within the miniatures to the colors of emerald, aquamarine, rubellite, spinel, morganite and amethyst. And thus, a fairy-tale world is formed.
