Dubbed the wedding of the century, Jennifer Gates, daughter of billionaire Bill Gates married Egyptian Nayel Nasser at a fairy-tale weekend wedding last October at the bride’s estate at Westchester County, New York.
On Saturday Oct.16th, the bride walked down the aisle in a custom ivory long-sleeve A-line Vera Wang gown and an ivory Italian tulle veil trimmed in hand-appliqué French macrame lace. The groom looked handsome in a classic Armani tux with a Lily of the Valley boutonniere, matching the bride’s bouquet, pinned to his lapel.
Yet kicking off the celebration weekend, the “Katb el Ketab” Reception, the Islamic marriage ceremony, held on Friday preceding the wedding, a dazzling Jennifer Gates appeared in the first images that went around the word, in a custom-made halter neck gown with a plunged bust slit, a double cloche skirt in off-white French satin palme, complete with a waist bolero by emerging Egyptian designer Rana Yousry.
Rana Yousry who was first contacted by the bride’s future mother-in-law, Mrs.Iman Nassar, was not only asked to prepare all the festivities’ dresses of Jennifer’s future mother in law, but also to make Jennifer’s dress for the “Katb El Kitab” reception.
The designers vision of Jennifer was that of a soft, well groomed, angelic, conservative character who adores horses, one of the most noble of creatures led to her inspiration of the gown: an expressive gown full of life, yet classy, royal and young. Rana’s first choice of materials: rich satin, soft tulle and organza.
Rana’s final gown materialized, after dedicated hours of matching her vision with Jennifer’s character preferences, in the perfect young halter neck with a plunged bust slit and a double cloche skirt of 6 tea lengthen full in off-white satin palme´ with a waist fixed belt to emphasize the waist and an extra touch of expression. And the waist bolero for a conservative royal overall look, with pointed sleeves for a younger touch. The final look : French, edgy, royal.
Working with insights of Mrs Nassar, sharing reference pictures with Jennifer for inspiration and guidance, Rana and her design team at ASORY were on tight schedule yet they made it. Alterations have been made by one of the best tailors in NYC for the dress on ground for a final glamorous look.
Mrs.Nassar also custom-made seven looks for the wedding celebrations. The strong willed mother of the groom, Rana envisioned her as a modern Pharaonic Queen. Digging into the history of royal Pharaonic costumes and bonding the symbols of sun, air and the Nile bridged through the key of life; in addition to the first ever royal queen gown “ the Cleopatra Gown”. The seven gowns that ranged from fitted to princess cut, came alive in French and Italian satins, silks, chiffon and organza and Chinese shantung in a myriad of royal Pharaonic colors such as Royal blue, green, gold, aqua, rose gold, purple and bronze.
Working with insights of Mrs Nassar day and night for over 3 months, Rana and her design team at ASORY have fully earned recognition.
