BEST OF BRITISH FASHION AT DUBAI EXPO

The British Fashion Council (BFC), HSBC Middle East and Chalhoub Group partnered to host an exclusive catwalk show by leading British designer label Preen by Thornton Bregazzi, followed by a spectacular reception. The highly anticipated British Fashion Council (BFC) event took place on Sunday 24th October 2021, at the UK Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 with several regional and global press and VIPs in attendance.

The prestigious catwalk event was part of a series of events taking place at the UK Pavilion, as part of the ‘In the Future… What will we Wear?’ program running from Friday 22nd October to Wednesday 27th October 2021. Leading industry insights will be at the forefront of the programme as it explores the future of fashion and retail, from sustainability to the latest tech trends, with speakers from British Fashion Council, Jimmy Choo and the Royal College of Art. The event will feature catwalk shows, an exhibition on innovative textiles from De Montfort University and insights from HSBC.

Preen by Thornton Bregazzi showcased their Spring Summer 2022 collection consisting of a kaleidoscope of bright, bold colors. Inspiration was taken from the rainbow-stripe test card screens that appeared in the 1980s when TV stations used to sign off for the night, as designers Justin Thornton & Thea Bregazzi spent the lockdown in front of their screens. Playful patchwork and colourful recycled knits in testcard inspired sweaters and oversized cardigans took centre stage, alongside black and white graphic prints of stripes, diamonds, dots and glitches that are static inspired.

Guests included designers Anna Foster from E.L.V. Denim, Sohee Park from MISS SOHEE, Saul Nash from his namesake brand, Neous designer Vanissa Antonious, and more. Louise Nichol, Sujata Assomull, Nez Gebreel and more attended from regional fashion media.
