Balenciaga makes its return to Paris haute couture week on July 7th. The first haute couture collection after 53 years and the first haute couture collection for creative director Demna Gvasalia. What makes those news even more exciting is the venue: the fully restored version of founder Cristóbal Balenciaga’s original couture salon at 10 Avenue Georges V, the historic address that still houses the boutique and that’s also the name of one of the Maison’s perfumes.
All eyes will be on Demna Gvasalia, a designer known for “underdressing” his clients at Balenciaga as well as his cult label “Vetements”, on his take on couture.
With the return of Balenciaga as well as Alaia to the Paris haute couture calendar, the upcoming back to in-person shows promise much anticipated excitement for the international fashion jet-set eager to return to 4 days of the most glamorous fashion week in the world.
