This year, global fashion and lifestyle e-retailer Shein is collaborating with young designers from all over the world through its Shein X program.
The Shein X program provides small independent designers the resources they needed to build their brand and bring their ideas to life in a way that remains true to themselves, without worrying about the commerciality and competitiveness of the fashion industry, given the difficulties in breaking into the industry and being noticed to global audience. The program puts the designers first – with a dedicated team working closely with the designers and their creations, and marketing the brands to a massive scale audience.
Since its launch in January 2021, Shein X has empowered 600+ designers, with a new goal of reaching additional 3,000 by the end of 2022. Designers come from all around the world: US, Canada, Mexico, UK, France, Italy, Spain, UAE, Malaysia, Australia, and many more. This has allowed Shein to offer more variety and styles for customers.
Through the program, young designers from Arab states got a chance to create new products and a complete capsule collection for the brand. Shein worked with 57 designers in the Middle East region in 2021, with 56 collections already launched and the last one to be launched in February 2022.
In addition, 10 Arab designers were invited to Shein Youtopia event during the Dubai Shopping Festival, from December 16 to 23, 2021. During the experiential activation, they shared their stories of being part of the Shein X project, in the form of telephone recordings, offering the guests opportunities to learn about the brand and their Shein x challenge at their phone booth.
